Shake off the Monday Blues

Shake off the Monday Blues

Taking care of your mind and body isn’t always second nature. Respect for yourself can come in many forms, and taking the time to do something meaningful can really boost our wellbeing. Connecting with yourself is one of the first steps towards looking inwards, and starting your journey on the Twin Trail.

Here at Boomtown HQ we are also guilty of not fully taking care of ourselves so we want to start the year as we mean to go on and shake the blues out of Mondays.

We want to invite you along this journey with us as we endeavour to carve out the time in our busy schedules to stop and partake in activities that bring us joy.

TURNING OUR MORNING DRINK INTO A CEREMONY.

It’s too easy to roll out of bed and jump straight into the nine-to-five. This year we’re turning our morning drink into a more ceremonial moment. Taking the time to be introspective, acknowledging the things we’re thankful for before confronting the opportunities the day ahead will bring.

LISTENING TO NEW MUSIC.

Music is a proven mood booster. Whether it’s digging out old favourites from our record collection or searching for new sparks. We’re diving deeper into the depths of our music libraries for 2023.

EATING ORANGES IN THE SHOWER.

Bear with us on this one. Studies show that the intense smell of oranges evaporating into the steam can reduce feelings of anxiety and depression. So we’ll be turning up the heat and getting citrusy in ‘23.

VENTURING INTO NATURE

Sometimes, being outside appreciating all that Mother Nature has to offer can provide us with more joy than the materialistic items at home. This year, we’re spending more time soaking in the magic that the outdoors has to offer.

WE’LL BE LAUGHING

It’s thought that the combination of laughter with deep yoga breathing brings more oxygen to the body and brain. Apparently, the result is improved mood and relieved tension. So, we’re making a point to split a few more sides this year!

CATCH US WILD SWIMMING

Immersing the body in cold water can release those endorphins and boost dopamine levels. We’ll be heading to the lake or the outdoor pools this year… maybe not right now but you’ll catch us in the water as the sun begins to warm again.

MEDITATING & SETTING INTENTIONS

Meditation is beloved at Boomtown HQ. Taking a moment, five or ten minutes, to get grounded can be energising. Lighting some incense, closing your eyes and focusing on body and breath can provide the clarity needed to challenge the day ahead.

EATING OUR FAVOURITE FOOD

Food is the way to the heart… well our hearts anyway. So, if we’ve had a rough day, we get stuck into our favourite recipe. Letting our mind focus on the task, having a little patience and reaping the rewards!

EXPLORING SOMEWHERE NEW

It’s so easy sometimes to stick to our familiar places and not venture out too far. We’re surrounded by beauty and it’s often not too hard to find, if we just seek it out. We’ll be heading out to places we’ve never been to before, appreciating what our surroundings have to offer.
