Behind The Mask

The power of the people had toppled Jose's regime! The mysterious Masked Man and his follower's occupation of the Sector 6 nuclear facility had inspired an act of mass civil disobedience that saw the central administration lose its iron grip on the citizens of Boomtown! The gates of power were thrown open and the palaces of the rich torn down brick by brick... The people danced in the streets, reclaiming their city and awaited the triumphant arrival of their leader! But after months of waiting, he remained elusive and invisible, secluded deep in his bunker beneath Sector 6.

The hero of the hour did not seek power for himself, he sought to make power obsolete; to liberate the souls and spirits of the people so they may never be fooled again and none would stand in dominance over another... but they waited in vain. People need leaders, almost as much as they need an enemy at the gates, and they floundered in this new world of a leaderless society, survival was the only order of the day. As infrastructure and governance broke down, the visions of the future were consumed by the shadows of the past...

Just as things appeared to teeter on the brink of disaster, basic services began to resume; power cuts (which had become commonplace) were less frequent as supplies began to arrive through Old Town port. A seemingly benevolent Corporation had come to save the day and, in the spirit of the people’s revolution, help to build a new society from the ashes of the old! Bang Hai Industries challenged the old order, and from the ruins of the once mighty Palace arose a new and even more impressive symbol of the future; Bang Hai Tower looked out across the city with a message of hope to all of Boomtown: The future belongs to us, the world is ours...
